@jeffreywsnyder they look like Original Line, which as you noted, look very different from Vertuo. Also, I don’t believe there are yet any third party capsules for Vertuo as the patent runs through 2030 or so.
@jeffreywsnyder@troy
Thanks so much for pointing that out! I’m getting these for my niece and I had no idea that they made two different types of pods.
It looks like the Nespresso capsule version is aluminum, which to me has been the most reliable indicator for the quality of the resultant coffee. (Any plastic ones I’ve gotten from Amazon or third parties have been terrible.)
@5665150@legume0490 yeah never had a Good plastic one. Some machines really hate them too, “pop” at the wrong time and don’t brew properly, and regardless, the resulting brew was inferior.
@Kyeh@macphoenix@sammydog01
Lol Yeah that was the first thing I noticed, I gave up trying… You wouldn’t believe what the other ones looked like. And besides, you wouldn’t see the scar on her back side!
Let’s see what YOU can do…
The packaging makes me think it’s window or shower curtains. I don’t have the gizmo for these, so me no buy … unless I want to use them for tiramisu powder!!!
@Big_Al8000@str8strych9 Wow that’s a great price. Is that only for the original machine? I have the Vertuo that I love but the price of the pods are ridiculous although admittedly I’ve only tried the Nespresso brand pods which are about $1.30 per pod for the ones I like
@Big_Al8000@candiedisilvio1@str8strych9
Where are you getting your pods from? The cheapest I’ve seen is $1.40 per pod.
That’s expensive!
I was going to get these for my niece knowing she’s got a Nespresso but she just informed me it’s the Vertuo and obviously these won’t work. Also, because of the design of the machine and patenting laws they made it extremely difficult for third parties to make generic replacement pods until 2030! Hopefully her machine will last until then. I’m seeing a kit to make your own but IDK if those really work well. I’ve heard stories of using them and ending up with a cup of coffee filled with coffee grounds, there’s nothing worse than THAT!
@Big_Al8000@candiedisilvio1@Lynnerizer Amazon mostly. During their BF sales, searched for something like ‘nespresso original aluminum’ and found some good deals. You may have success doing the same with ‘Nespresso vertuo’ next week; Nespresso’s direct site would be worth a check too. Good luck in your hunt!
If you want something special, they do have single-origin limited premium coffees, but at up to $2.00/pod. They are special treats but too rich for my blood most of the time.
@Big_Al8000@candiedisilvio1@str8strych9@pmarin
Thanks I’ll try with that search, I’m sure I’ll find something at least a little cheaper. The one good thing I’ve got going for me is that she isn’t picky about flavors and likes to try new things!
Back in 2019 I scored a Motif coffee maker here in Meh for $49. Best coffee maker I’ve ever had. Super hot coffee & quite the workhorse.
So I got no need for k cups.
@cfg83@chienfou some friends of mine and I visited Puerto Rico maybe 25 years ago. one of the distinct memories I have of that trip was the “town of Salida” incident…
we were driving from San Juan towards Ponce. This was pre-GPS-enabled smartphones so all navigation was done by map. One guy in the passenger seat was designated as navigator; another buddy sitting in the back had his own map and was following along.
All went well until we got on the highway. As we were cruising along the fellow in the back seemed to be getting more and more confused… turning his map around, checking signs, etc. He finally piped up that his map was out of date because he couldn’t find the town of Salida.
“It must be a big town, we’ve passed four exits for it already!” he exclaimed.
Where’s the breakdown of nespresso vs k-cup purchases? Of course, I guess it could also be broken down by flavor, but I’d be more interested in pod types in pie chart.
I think there must be something very wrong with the sale or I totally do not understand how to purchase anything anymore. I know I’ve been charged at least six times for shipping, but not one time. Have I gotten that confirmation that I have successfully ordered any of this coffee. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong but I will definitely be sending in an email. I don’t get it. I really wanted the coffee, but I’m spending a ton on shipping!
@silverqueen Same experience here. No email confirmation, no pending charge on credit card, as if I never purchased but website is asking if I want to buy another one? Go figure.
@Kyeh@silverqueen@togidogi test order worked for me. I got an email confirmation as well. Double check your orders page and also your email spam folder for the order confirmation.
@Kyeh@togidogi@troy i’ve sent the email comma I don’t know what’s happened here. But it’s something to do with shipping and that radio button. Every single time that I tried to purchase whether it was one or three I was charged shipping plus tax but no product. There’s at least seven or eight of them on my credit card. You can’t say I wasn’t trying. But it is not working for me on my account. I don’t know what the problem is.
I had fully intended to buy two breakfast blends and a blonde but it’s not working and I’ve already spent better than $30 in shipping for something that’s never gonna arrive.
@Kyeh@togidogi@troy oh yeah, forgot to mention I did check my orders page and nothing, so I don’t think checking. My spam folder is going to help. I never got the confirmation that it went through and I just don’t understand.
Shipping and payment plans have always defaulted. These radio buttons are new to me. I haven’t had to deal with them before but I think that’s the culprit. And I am a VP member and have been for quite some time so is that the problem? It doesn’t know what to do with me? Even though it says it’s going to waive it. The only price that’s at the bottom is the shipping price. And that’s what gets charged to the card.
@silverqueen are you sure you’re selecting both Type AND Flavor? Both selections have to be made before it will show your total – that sounds like what’s happening to me
@silverqueen@troy
Is there maybe an issue with your credit card? I noticed that you are listed as an EX VMP not current. Perhaps your card expiration date in the system changed. Still weird they’re charging for shipping only and not giving you the product and the order is actually going through!
I know when I did mine the green processing bar keep cycling on and on and on and on (kind of like the old IRK days). But when I went to look and checked my orders I showed completed orders registered for both items I had ordered.
As usual YMMV.
If they are at all decent, very good price for Nespresso-style. I usually can get some around .40-.50 but this is half that. And coffee is coffee, right? Don’t ever say that to a coffee geek!
@jmrobinett@troy yeah it would be. And if you look at costs, not a lot of grams of coffee in each pod, so $/oz (or gram if you prefer) will be higher than other coffee.
I didn’t see this yesterday (but got no money now anyway). Are deals only for one day? Also I know my Chromebook updated the other day and some pages logged me out and I had to sign in again. Maybe the problems with this site (those of you that had problems yesterday) has something to do with updates? I have been having problems with a few other sites not working right since that update. And to the person who got the wrong type of Nespresso, if they make a reusable pod for those (I have those both for my Keurig as well as a similar cheapy one), maybe you could pour the coffee from the wrong pod into one of those and still use?
That is the purported business model, but as Kyeh mentioned, sometimes they will run longer than a day if they have abundant stock.
As is the case today… 2 days later and still up at the moment.
These are awful! I got the French roast because I like strong coffee. It made the water brown, but NO flavor. Tastes like warm water. Guess I learned the hard way.
threw a line to cust support since my order says it is ‘processing’ still but has a ‘cancel this order’ option as well… think maybe it got borked during the order process (it did keep with the green slider bar going back and forth for a long time when I ordered…)
we will see…
Got my variety pack of Nespresso today. They are weak and flavorless. The “medium roast” was barely a step above water and the “dark roast” compared to maybe a 4/5 intensity scale compared to Bestpresso which has been our preferred brand as of late.
I did not notice the expirations on these, but one would hope they are actually good until that date. If this is the normal flavor of these coffees, I’d stay far away.
These aren’t just bad, they’re downright defective. I’ve tried to brew 3 of them, and with 2, the needles on my Keurig didn’t puncture the seal on the top and I ended up with just a cup of hot water. The 1 that did brew successfully was pretty mediocre. I’ve had better store brand k cups.
The k-cup pods I received are just fine. They seem to use thicker/heavier plastic than typical ones do, so it takes a bit of extra force when putting them in to ensure they get fully punctured, but I have had no issues with them functioning properly to get a cup of coffee out of them.
Mine arrived yesterday. So far I just had one cup of the blonde and it was fine. Works as anticipated in my Keurig with no issues.
Unfortunately the Nespresso capsules are not the style I thought they were going to be to use in my sister-in-law’s machine. I believe she has a machine that uses the newer, bigger pods. Guess I will be de-constructing them to make drip coffee once I figure out how many to put in the filter at a time…

Not a bad price for Nespresso pods. I’m in for a blonde one.
@fuzzmanmatt Is that the lightest one? These words mean nothing to me.
@fuzzmanmatt
Said @TheRealJRN never.
@sammydog01 Yep, Blonde is the lightest – here’s the order from lightest to darkest:
@troy Thank you!
@sammydog01 @troy I’d have gotten around to it!

@fuzzmanmatt Thank you too!

@legume0490 That’s been my litmus test, too.
@legume0490
Glad you caught that. I thought these were the junk ones made out of plastic. I’m in for a box of the light roast.

My wife loves Nespresso but hates the price (≈$.80/pod), so I’m in for a variety pack. She says she’ll have these drunk up by new years.
@Big_Al8000 Keep an eye on BF sales next week. Last year I found some decent espresso in aluminum pods in the $.20-.25 range.
@Big_Al8000 @str8strych9 Wow that’s a great price. Is that only for the original machine? I have the Vertuo that I love but the price of the pods are ridiculous although admittedly I’ve only tried the Nespresso brand pods which are about $1.30 per pod for the ones I like
@Big_Al8000 @candiedisilvio1 Yes, that’s for Original line ‘compatible’ pods, whereas the genuine Nespresso ones typically run $.60-90 each.
@Big_Al8000 @candiedisilvio1 @str8strych9

Hopefully her machine will last until then.
I’m seeing a kit to make your own but IDK if those really work well. I’ve heard stories of using them and ending up with a cup of coffee filled with coffee grounds, there’s nothing worse than THAT!

(red is K-cup, orange is Nespresso)
@dave Yep!!
This is a stupidly good price for Nespresso pods. And they look to be aluminum ones which generally are the less “knockoff” generic ones.
@bmajazz I thought so too. Did you buy them? I’m thinking about it!
@bmajazz @MeganChapa bought 2 bundles of Nespresso, one mixed and one ristretto. Sometimes I want the really strong taste ones, but not always.
I have an Outin coffee maker that uses pods for when I’m on the go. Still have a bunch but this is a good deal.

Yikes! Came here to report. The Nespresso pods are working great! And delicious
