Visiting our son in Pittsburgh and won’t see him again before Christmas so yeah… SWMBO acquired, packaged, wrapped and transported his gift on this trip.
I know longer bother
Bags for the win
But back when it was more than gift cards, I often wrapped them as we bought them, especially 40+ ago when the offspring was a wee tot.
Any time a deal could be had, and from any source. Yes, I’ve gifted items that came from IRKs and BOCs before.
As for wrapping – sometimes I skip that altogether and just use an Amazon box. In the past, I’ve use newspapers, brown paper dunnage, construction blueprints, old calendars, and wrapping paper remnants with different patterns. Think of that like this:
@jouest Source? You mean from various dumpsters in and around Carrollton, TX? resourcefully obtained surplus goods redistributed through alternative means?
@Kyeh@narfcake I used to make a point of using the Sunday comics, back in the days when having a subscription to a hardcopy newspaper was the norm. Now, for the few gifts I can give, I don’t do any wrapping unless the circumstances would be awkward without it.
My dad always used newspaper to wrap our gifts as kids.
One year I was so busy at Xmas I just threw everything in a garbage bag and handed it out unwrapped. My brother threw such a shit fit about it and said he doesn’t ever want a gift from me that’s not wrapped bc it ruins Xmas. He like 31 at time.
I have a huge lego set that got wrapped and stashed under the bed right when it got home just to be safe. It’s been wrapped since July. With the bratling over so often it seemed prudent. He’s never even been in that room, lol.

Same- and enough packing and/or duct tape to make unwrapping a herculean task…
